Welcome!

This blog is dedicated to all those writers who have (or want to) visit the Monday morning Writer's Block at the W.J. Niederkorn library. I've made this for all of YOU! We all know the rules; play nice, be patient with each other, and keep the dialogues rolling!

Even though each of us has unique plans / genres / audiences for those words that we are going to wrestle with, we all have one thing in common: We are authors.

Also, I'm playing around with a signature code that will enable each of us to have an idea what you are currently working on. Granted, writing is like cooking; there are probably a number of different 'spicy' ideas in your mental cupboard. So the 'signature code' is more for what you are working on or concerned with today.

Here's the Signature's breakdown:

How Far Along Are You:
Searching
Plotting
Writing
Editing
Selling
Published (and back for the next book in the series)

Genre Type:
Non-Fiction (type)
Fiction (type)

Title:
None
(Working Title)

Book Type:
Poetry
Short Story
Children's
Young Adult
Novella
Biography
Novel
Series
etc...

Here's how the Signature Code might look:

  1. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. We will have coffee and (might) have something sugary and unhealthy to keep the synapses popping. The meeting time is from 9 am until 1 pm. Currently it is pretty unstructured with the intent being a place to get some feedback, small talk, inspiration, and direction. Enjoy!

  2. Oooh! I like the 'signature code' thing! Let me take it for a spin...

I notice you didn't have a 'screenplay' option in the code. Bless you!!!! :D

  3. I've always considered screenplays as novels that haven't grown into their pages (yet).

  5. Hi,

I'm glad our writing group has managed to stick together and support each other this summer! I've been working on a fictional piece with no title right now. Those always come last for me. I'm in the early stages so I don't want to jinx anything (yes, I'm superstitious), but I'm making progress.

  6. Thanks for signing in, Jennifer! I like the 'Dream' in the signature code. Nice touch. The Writers Block has been a serious shot in the arm for my inspiration as well. Looking for (and discussing) ways to help out our group's writing needs has really tweaked my writer's toolbox! If I'm unable to stop in today, I hope to see everyone on the 20th. Write on!
